The short answer
Mixed with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 10 mg vial of Mazdutide holds 10 mg/mL. A 2 mg dose is then 20 units (0.20 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe, and the vial holds about 5 doses of that size. Taken 1× per week, it lasts about 5 weeks.
How much water
The water only sets the strength; the dose and the number of doses in the vial stay the same. Draws are on a U-100 insulin syringe, where 1 unit is 0.01 mL.
| Water added | Strength | Per syringe unit | Draw for 2 mg |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 100 mcg | 20 units (0.20 mL) |
| 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 50 mcg | 40 units (0.40 mL) |
| 3 mL | 3.333 mg/mL | 33.3 mcg | 60 units (0.60 mL) |

Draws over 100 units show in mL. Faded values are under 2 units, which is hard to measure. Check that your vial holds the larger volumes.
Where the doses come from
- Trial 2 mg once weekly for 4 weeks, then 4 mg. The 6 mg group took 4 mg for 4 weeks before moving to 6 mg. Innovent describes its regimen in China as 2 mg, 4 mg, then 6 mg.
- Trial 9 mg once weekly, reached in two steps (3 mg, then 6 mg, then 9 mg), in adults with a BMI of 30 or more: 16.65% mean loss at 60 weeks vs 1.50% on placebo.
- Trial US phase 2: 10 or 16 mg once weekly, starting at 1.5 mg and stepping up every 4 weeks. At 32 weeks weight fell 15.6% and 18.1% vs 0.9% on placebo; 20% stopped 16 mg because of side effects.
Doses are what labels, trials or community reports reference, not recommendations. Mazdutide’s page has the cycle, side effects, cautions and sources.
Mixing and storage
- PrepareLet a refrigerated vial come to room temperature, and wipe both stoppers with an alcohol swab.
- Add 1 mLDraw 1 mL of bacteriostatic water and let it run slowly down the inside wall of the vial.
- Swirl, don’t shakeSwirl gently until the powder dissolves and the liquid is clear.
- Label itWrite the date and the strength, 10 mg/mL, on the vial.
Storage: No English label available. Usual practice for research vials: powder frozen or refrigerated; mixed vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
The reconstitution guide covers each step, and the units page explains syringe markings.
Questions
How much water do I add to a 10 mg vial of mazdutide?
There’s no single right amount: the water only sets the strength. With 1 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 10 mg vial holds 10 mg/mL. With 2 mL it’s 5 mg/mL; with 3 mL it’s 3.333 mg/mL. Less liquid makes each dose a smaller draw; more makes small doses easier to measure.
How many units is 2 mg of mazdutide?
With 1 mL in a 10 mg vial, 2 mg is 20 units (0.20 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. With 2 mL, 40 units (0.40 mL); with 3 mL, 60 units (0.60 mL).
How many doses are in a 10 mg vial of mazdutide?
About 5 doses of 2 mg, or 1 of 6 mg or 1 of 9 mg. Taken 1× per week at 2 mg, it lasts about 5 weeks.
How long does a mixed vial of mazdutide keep?
No English label available. Usual practice for research vials: powder frozen or refrigerated; mixed vials at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
