Russian Deltaran, as add-on therapy for stress states and alcohol withdrawal.
Delta sleep-inducing peptide, emideltide
A nine-amino-acid neuropeptide first isolated in the 1970s from the blood of sleeping rabbits.
Category 2 is FDA’s list of bulk substances that may present significant safety risks in compounding. The 503A bulks list adds substances that pharmacies may compound with. Advisory committee votes are advice; FDA makes the final decision. Sport status follows the WADA Prohibited List in force since January 1, 2026; athletes should confirm with their anti-doping organization. Checked October 5, 2026.
Deltaran, Russia
300 mcg intranasal, 1–3× daily for 5–10 days.
1980s–90s insomnia studies
IV: about 25 nmol/kg (roughly 21 mcg/kg) per infusion.
100–300 mcg by injection, 1–3 hours before bed.
2 weeks on, 2 off, shown over 26 weeks
The ways DSIP is most often run, each tagged with where it comes from.
Russian Deltaran, as add-on therapy for stress states and alcohol withdrawal.
16 people with chronic insomnia (Bes 1992). The effect was weak.
Under the skin. No human data for injection.
25 nmol/kg. IV, 3 afternoon infusions in 16 insomnia patients (Bes 1992); about 21 mcg/kg. The effect was weak.
Label: dissolve one 0.3 mg ampule in 0.5 mL of water just before use and drop into both nostrils; clear a blocked nose first. Community injections go under the skin.
The Deltaran label has no missed-dose rule. Skip it and resume on schedule; don’t double up.
Slightly better sleep efficiency and faster sleep onset than placebo, but no change in how well people felt they slept.
TrialTrial authors concluded short-term DSIP is unlikely to be of major benefit for chronic insomnia.
TrialThe label gives no timeline for effects in stress states or alcohol withdrawal.
LabelNasal irritation (Deltaran label; frequency not given)
Clear the nose before dosing; stop if it persists.
Allergic reactions (Deltaran label; frequency not given)
Stop and get help for rash, swelling or trouble breathing.
Headache, nausea or dizziness (reported in older trials)
Usually mild; stop if they persist.
Fainting, a very slow pulse, chest pain, or allergy signs such as rash, swelling or trouble breathing.
Usually run on its own.
5 key published human studies, with how many people took part. Animal studies aren’t listed here.
In alcohol (47) and opiate (60) withdrawal, symptoms cleared or improved markedly in 87% and 97% of evaluable patients; there was no control group.
Dick et al., Eur Neurol 1984, PMID 6548969
Rather than deepening anesthesia, DSIP raised heart rate and lightened anesthesia depth (higher BIS) at 25 nmol/kg.
Pomfrett et al., Eur J Anaesthesiol 2009, PMID 19142086
In chronic insomnia, sleep efficiency and sleep onset improved slightly vs placebo, but effects were weak and subjective sleep did not change.
Bes et al., Neuropsychobiology 1992, PMID 1299794
In severe chronic insomnia, night sleep and daytime alertness improved substantially, and the effect held for one placebo night afterward.
Schneider-Helmert, Eur Neurol 1987, PMID 3622582
In chronic insomnia, total sleep time rose, but the gap vs placebo already existed at baseline; judged of little clinical value.
Monti et al., Int J Clin Pharmacol Res 1987, PMID 3583493

U-100 insulin syringe: 100 units is 1 mL. Draws over 100 units show in mL. Faded values are under 2 units, which is hard to measure. Check that your vial holds the larger volumes.
A nine-amino-acid neuropeptide first isolated in the 1970s from the blood of sleeping rabbits.
Approved in Russia as Deltaran, an intranasal product for stress states and alcohol withdrawal; not approved in the US. Nomination withdrawn, so emideltide (DSIP) is no longer in FDA Category 2 (April 2026). On July 24, 2026 FDA’s advisory committee voted 7 to 6, 1 abstaining, against adding it to the 503A bulks list.
From the label (Deltaran, Russia): 300 mcg intranasal, 1–3× daily for 5–10 days. From human studies (1980s–90s insomnia studies): IV: about 25 nmol/kg (roughly 21 mcg/kg) per infusion. These are the amounts sources reference, not recommendations.
There’s no single right amount, because the water only sets the strength. With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water in a 5 mg vial, the strength is 2.5 mg/mL, so 250 mcg is 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. More water makes small doses easier to measure. The dose chart above shows other volumes.
Before mixing: Deltaran label: 2–15 °C, protected from light (licensed 0.3 mg vial, 3-year shelf life). Deltaran label: use at once, don’t store. Multi-dose research vials are commonly kept in the fridge and used within about 4 weeks.
No. Not named on the 2026 list. It is registered in Russia (Deltaran), so S0 (non-approved substances) does not apply.
Yes. The human studies section lists 5 published studies. Among them, from 1984: In alcohol (47) and opiate (60) withdrawal, symptoms cleared or improved markedly in 87% and 97% of evaluable patients; there was no control group.

Doses tagged Community come from public dosing guides and user reports, checked against at least two of them. Those sites aren’t named here because many of them sell peptides or earn commissions on them.
